Dr. Conrad is a research scientist for the Midwest Center for Health Services and Policy Research at the Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital in Hines, IL and a professor of health policy and administration at the University of Illinois at Chicago. At the time of this writing, Dr. Mahableshwarkar was a psychiatrist at the North Chicago VA Medical Center (NCVAMC), North Chicago, IL. Currently, he is the director of clinical development for Janssen Pharmaceutica, Inc., Titusville, NJ. Dr. Lutz is a psychologist at the NCVAMC. Ms. Lynch is the director of Independent Positive Living Under Supervision in Waukegan, IL.
For many with severe mental illness, money management presents a major obstacle to independent living. One VA program has begun to break down this barrier by integrating community-based financial services into the total mental health care plan.
