Surgical Staging Improves Cervical Cancer Outcomes

Key clinical point: First prospective study shows better cancer-specific survival with surgical staging.

Major finding: 33% in the surgical staging group were up-staged, compared with 6% in the CT group.

Study details: A follow-up study of a randomized, controlled trial evaluating surgical staging over clinical staging in stage IIB-IVA cervical cancer in 235 women.
