Dr. Cohen disclosed that he received previous study funding from Covidien, and one of his coauthors, Dr. David E. Cummings of the University of Washington, Seattle, disclosed receiving past funding from Ethicon Endo-Surgery. The other authors said they had no relevant financial disclosures.
