Longer Interval Between Osteoporosis Screenings May Be Okay for Many Women, Oct. 18, 2010. Women aged 67 years or older with a bone mineral density T score higher than -1.50 on dual energy x-ray absorptiometry can have their next DXA examination deferred for at least 10 years with a low risk that they’ll progress to osteoporosis in the interim, according to an analysis of data from more than 5,000 U.S. women.
Teriparatide Boosts Periodontal Surgery Recovery in Pilot Study, Oct. 16, 2010. Treatment for 6 weeks with teriparatide, a U.S.-approved drug that stimulates bone remodeling, led to significant, 1-year improvements in alveolar bone formation and clinical outcomes in a controlled, pilot study of 40 patients undergoing periodontal surgery.
