When Melissa Gonzalez excitedly tweeted that she had been accepted to medical school earlier this year, she had no idea the tweet would draw attention and responses from people across the country.
The tweet, which shared that Ms. Gonzalez was the daughter of Mexican immigrants, received more than 300,000 likes and another 23,000 retweets from physicians, medical associations, students, and graduates alike.
