With the increasing number of cancer survivors in the United States, it's important that oncologists and family physicians work closely to ensure continuity of care for patients. Dr. Richard Schilsky, of the University of Chicago, discusses the role of the primary care physician in managing treatment side effects, being aware of possible cancer recurrence, and monitoring for secondary new cancers than may occur in cancer survivors.
