Running for Rare Team Raises Funds for NORD Program for Undiagnosed Patients

The Running for Rare Team is recruiting marathon and half-marathon runners to help raise funds for the NORD/Undiagnosed Diseases Network Patient Assistance Program. For the past several years, the team has run the Boston Marathon to raise money for NORD’s program, which assists patients applying to the NIH Undiagnosed Diseases Network.

Now, the team plans to run marathons and half-marathons in additional cities, and is recruiting runners interested in joining the cause. NORD pairs each runner with a patient partner who provides inspiration during the months of training and preparation.

The NORD program provides financial assistance to families who have exhausted every possible avenue to diagnosis and are in the process of applying to the NIH Undiagnosed Diseases Network. The funds provide financial assistance for diagnostic or basic medical testing that may be required to complete the application process.

Runners interested in learning more about this may write to runningteam@rarediseases.org. Additional information is available on the NORD website.
