Political Advocacy Is Needed to Increase Funding for Headache Research

According to Dr. Shapiro, more advocacy is needed to spur the NIH to change its funding for headache. “That tipping point is probably going to come when we have 100,000 people across the country who are contacting members of Congress,” he said.

The AHDA is currently gathering online signatures for a petition urging Congressional hearings on the impact of headache disorders. “We should be able to make a difference,” Dr. Shapiro concluded.
