Frustrated with the preauthorization routine? Bill for your time


 

Many doctors may appreciate the trouble that sleep disorders specialist Dr. David E. McCarty went through to get a renewal of a drug preauthorization he had obtained for his patient every year since 2010, but his experience this year took the cake. This time around, his frustrations with the pharmacy benefit management company that he had to deal with led him to write a well-crafted letter and to bill the company for the inordinate amount of time it took.
