Mobile X-Ray System

Siemens has launched the MOBILETT XP CR, the first mobile X-ray unit with an integrated computed radiography (CR) reader.

The MOBILETT XP CR was designed to meet the challenges facing today’s health care providers and to help facilities optimize workflow by enabling bedside imaging. The integrated monitor provides high- quality image display for first image review and image archiving right at the patient’s bedside. Developed with high imaging power for busy hospital environments, the system is said to be suited for the most demanding mobile imaging tasks in the intensive care unit (ICU), neonatal and pediatric departments, and surgery ward. Improved clinical workflow functions enable clinicians to perform basic image-processing tasks (brightness, contrast, edge enhancement, etc.) directly on the system.

Siemens notes that some of the MOBILETT XP CR’s attributes provide benefits that digital radiography cannot easily match, such as the use of different imaging formats with different imaging cassettes. The choice of cassette enables clinicians to readily image various anatomic regions, as well as in pediatric and incubator situations. The MOBILETT XP CR will provide further advantages for existing X-ray equipment. The system’s integrated CR reader with a reading capacity of 60 cassettes per hour enables it to serve as a centralized single-plate CR reader for multiple rooms or ICUs, allowing CR budget sharing. It can also be used as emergency backup for the centralized CR reader.

The XP CR is the newest addition to Siemens' MOBILETT XP product family of mobile X-ray systems. The technology is lightweight and compact with effortless maneuverability and maximum arm range. It can be positioned for imaging in virtually all conceivable projections with the patient recumbent, sitting, or in any position in between. Since the unit's head can be freely rotated, all types of projections are easy to adjust from either side of the bed. Clinicians can also use a remote control to operate the systems from up to 30 feet away.

Adjustable ROM Knee Brace

FLA Orthopedics has introduced a new, wrap-around hinged knee brace indicated for mild to moderate ligament sprains and sprains (ACL, PCL, MCL, and LCL), meniscal strains and tears, medial/lateral instability, chronic knee instability, and postoperative range of motion (ROM) control. Made of Tri-Permalon™ material, the Adjustable ROM Knee Brace is latex free and neoprene free.

The company notes that the wrap-around design makes application easy for swollen, tender joints, and the knee brace features polycentric range of motion hinges that allow for progressive rehabilitation. Flexion and extension settings can be adjusted in 20° increments to control movement of the joint, with the goal of preventing further injury and speeding the healing process. The dual-axis polycentric hinges are designed to track more closely with knee joint motion than a single-axis hinge and to provide the joint with medial and lateral stabilization.
