Utilization of Surgery for Post-prostatectomy Incontinence

Key clinical point: Efforts to increase prompt repair of post-prostatectomy incontinence (PPI) can significantly improve patient quality of life after radical prostatectomy (RP).

Major finding: 29,287 patients underwent RP during the study period; 3.6% of these patients had subsequent incontinence surgery, at a median of 23.5 months following surgery.

Study details: Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project Databases for Florida from 2006-2015 were utilized and International Classification of Disease procedure codes were used to identify men who underwent RP between 2006 and 2012.
