Watch for nonsuicidal self-injury in girls with ADHD, comorbidities

Key clinical point: It’s critical to routinely screen adolescent girls with ADHD for nonsuicidal self-injury.

Major finding: Two-thirds of a group of adolescent psychiatric inpatients with ADHD met diagnostic criteria for comorbid nonsuicidal self-injury, more than 70% of whom were girls.

Study details: This was a cross-sectional study of comorbid conditions in 52 adolescent psychiatric hospital inpatients with ADHD.
