Barriers to clinical trial participation revealed by gynecologic cancer patients

Key clinical point: A small survey has provided explanations as to why patients with gynecologic cancers don’t participate in clinical trials.

Major finding: Half of survey respondents with no history of trial participation (63/124) said their medical team never mentioned the possibility of a trial, and about 27% (34/124) said they were interested in trial participation but couldn’t enroll because of various barriers.

Study details: A 26-question survey completed by 189 survivors of gynecologic cancers, 124 (66%) of whom had never enrolled in a clinical trial.

Disclosures: The authors disclosed no conflicts of interest.
