Acoustic pulse boosts laser tattoo removal

Key clinical point: Acoustic pulse device allows more laser passes – and fading – in single office visits for tattoo removal.

Major finding: In single office visit, average fading was higher in the Q‐switched laser/rapid acoustic pulse group versus the Q‐switched laser-only group (44% and 25%, respectively, P less than .01).

Study details: A single-center, prospective trial of different treatments of zones in 32 black ink tattoos in 21 patients – laser/rapid acoustic pulse treatment versus regular laser treatment versus no treatment.
