NIMH Recommends Some Psychosocial Interventions for Schizophrenia

A PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY CONFERENCE SPONSORED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA

"When we get people into treatment early, it’s not enough just to give them antipsychotic agents to stabilize their positive and negative symptoms; we also need to think about getting them as quickly as possible into some of these psychosocial interventions that are an important component of treatment," Dr. Breitborde concluded.

The Schizophrenia PORT report was supported by the NIMH and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Dr. Breitborde declared having no relevant financial interests.
