Opioid Management Program Reduced Narcotics Prescribed After Breast Surgery
Key clinical point: Surgeons prescribed fewer narcotics to breast surgery patients after implementation of an opioid prescription management program.
Major finding: After the program was implemented, surgeons prescribed five fewer pills for each patient who underwent excisional biopsy or lumpectomy and three fewer pills for patients who underwent mastectomy with reconstruction.
