Atopic Dermatitis in Egg-, Milk-Allergic Kids May Up Anaphylaxis Risk

Key clinical point: Atopic dermatitis was associated with significantly increased anaphylaxis in children with egg and milk allergies.

Major finding: Anaphylaxis rates in children allergic to eggs and milk with and without atopic dermatitis were 47% versus 11% for egg and 50% versus 19% for milk.

Study details: The data come from a retrospective study of 229 children with food allergies and atopic dermatitis and 118 children with food allergies but no atopic dermatitis.
