Vitamin E Acetate Confirmed As Likely Source of EVALI
Key clinical point: Vitamin E acetate was found in the lung fluid of a majority of cases of electronic cigarette, or vaping, product use–associated lung injury.
Major finding: A total of 94% of patients with electronic cigarette, or vaping, product use–associated lung injury (EVALI) showed vitamin E acetate in samples of bronchoalveolar-lavage (BAL) fluid.
Study details: The data come from a convenience sample of 51 patients with electronic cigarette, or vaping, product use–associated lung injury.
