How prostate cancer treatments affect quality of life

Key clinical point: Aside from active surveillance, all prostate cancer treatments have a significant detrimental effect on patients’ quality of life, a study suggests.

Major finding: Surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy significantly affected patients’ quality of life because of effects on urinary incontinence, sexual function, fatigue, and insomnia.

Study details: A patient-driven study on the effects of prostate cancer treatment on quality of life involving 2,943 men from 24 countries.
