Transdermal estradiol may modulate the relationship between sleep, cognition

Key clinical point: Transdermal estradiol may preserve brain architecture and cognition through sleep improvement.

Major finding: Higher attention and executive function scores in the transdermal group moderately correlated with better sleep (r = –0.54) and cortical volume of the dorsolateral prefrontal region (r = –0.47), and they weakly correlated with lower brain amyloid (r = 0.18).

Study details: The KEEPS substudy comprised 69 women with full follow-up data.

Disclosures: Dr. Zeydan had no financial disclosures.
