Offenders With Schizophrenia Impaired in Perceiving Facial Emotion

Major finding: Using measures such as the World Health Organization’s Schedule for Clinical Assessment in Neuropsychiatry 2.1, the investigators found that violent offenders with schizophrenia are less accurate at perceiving emotion, compared with controls (46.1 vs. 64.5%, P = 0.026).
Study details: The results are based on a cross-sectional study of 59 people with aggressive schizophrenia, compared with 88 controls.
