Heavy menstrual bleeding difficult to control in young patients with inherited platelet disorders

Key clinical point: A broadly effective treatment for heavy menstrual bleeding was not achieved among young patients with inherited platelet function disorders.

Major finding: About 56% of patients failed initial treatment and required a mean of two additional treatments during follow-up.

Study details: A retrospective chart review was performed of outpatient treatment of 34 patients aged 9-25 years with heavy menstrual bleeding and diagnosed with inherited platelet function disorders.
