Artificially sweetened drinks add to CVD risk

Key clinical point: Substituting drinks with nonnutritive sweeteners for sugary drinks may not decrease risk of cardiovascular disease.

Major finding: High consumption of drinks containing sweeteners was associated with a 32% increase in risk of incident CVD.

Study details: An observational cohort study enrolling 104,760 subjects during 2009-2019.
