Chronic Cough in COPD Linked to More Severe Disease

Key clinical point: Chronic cough may indicate more severe disease in patients with COPD.

Major finding: Among participants with COPD, those with chronic cough had higher rates of dyspnea (66% versus 38%).

Study details: Analysis of a nested cohort of 43,271 adults from the Copenhagen General Population Study.

Disclosures: The study was funded by the private Lundbeck Foundation, as well as by the Danish Lung Association and the Danish Cancer Society. Several authors reported receiving grants and fees from AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline, and Novartis that were unrelated to the study.
