Key clinical point: Antibiotic exposure within 14 days after screening colonoscopy may increase risk of irritable bowel syndrome.

Major finding: Individuals exposed to antibiotics within 14 days after screening colonoscopy had a 77% increased risk of developing irritable bowel syndrome (adjusted odds ratio, 1.77; 95% CI, 1.31-2.39).
