Cancer pain management inadequate in opioid-saturated areas
Key clinical point: Cancer patients may have suboptimal pain management because of concerns about opioid misuse.
Major finding: More than 60% of cancer patients in the study area never received an opioid prescription for pain control.
Study details: Longitudinal exploratory analysis of claims data for 4,324 cancer patients in southwestern Virginia.
