Ketamine edges out ECT for refractory depression in small study
Key clinical point: Although both electorconvulsive therapy and ketamine worked well for refractory depression, ketamine had the early edge.
Major finding: Improvements in HDRS scores were greater after both single and serial ketamine (P less than .001).
