T3 levels are higher in combatants with PTSD
Key clinical point: War veterans with PTSD had elevated free and total triiodothyronine levels, compared with non-PTSD controls who had adverse experiences other than combat.
Major finding: Free and total triiodothyronine were significantly elevated in combatants with PTSD, by 0.36 pg/mL and 31.6 ng/mL, respectively, compared with non-PTSD controls.
Study details: A systematic review and meta-analysis of 10 studies of a patients who had adverse experiences, of whom 373 had PTSD and 301 were controls with no PTSD.
