Certain diabetes drugs may thwart dementia

Key clinical point: Certain antidiabetes medications may protect against dementia.

Major finding: Type 2 diabetes patients whose treatment regimen included an SGLT2 inhibitor were 62% less likely to develop dementia.

Study details: This Danish national case control registry study included 11,619 type 2 diabetes patients who received a dementia diagnosis and 46,476 matched type 2 diabetes patients without dementia.
