Quality improvement program expands early childhood screening

Key clinical point: Implementation of a quality improvement program significantly increased screening for maternal depression, autism, and social determinants of health

Major finding: Primary care screening for maternal depression increased from 27% to 87% after implementation of a QI program. Screening also increased significantly for developmental delay (60% to 93%) and autism spectrum disorder (74% to 95%).

Study details: The data come from a review of a 1-year QI program including 19 pediatric primary care practices in 12 states.
