MADIT-CRT: Resynchronization linked to fewer heart failure hospitalizations

Key clinical point: Placement of a CRT-D device may reduce hospitalizations in selected heart failure patients with left bundle branch block.

Major finding: Hospitalization for heart failure occurred in 12% of patients treated with CRT-D and 22% of those who received an ICD.

Study details: Post hoc analysis of data collected in MADIT-CRT, a multicenter randomized study with 1,820 patients followed for an average of 5.6 years.
