Geography and behaviors linked to early-onset colorectal cancer survival in U.S. women

Key clinical point: Individual and community-level features account for some of the variance in early-onset colorectal cancer (CRC) survival among U.S. women, according to researchers.

Major finding: Physical inactivity and lower fertility (r_s = .21, r_s = –.23: P < .01) correlated with living in “hot spots,” or U.S. counties with high early-onset CRC mortality rates in women.

Study details: A retrospective analysis of data on 28,790 women diagnosed with early-onset CRC during 1999-2016.
