Statins may lower risk of colorectal cancer
Key clinical point: Statin use may lower the risk of colorectal cancer (CRC) in patients with or without inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Major finding: Patients with IBD who used statins had a 60% lower risk of CRC (pooled odds ratio, 0.40; 95% confidence interval, 0.19-0.86; P = .019).
