Statin Use Linked to Less Depression, Anxiety in ACOS Patients

Key clinical point: Adults with asthma–COPD overlap syndrome (ACOS) who used statins had a lower risk of anxiety and depression than nonstatin users.

Major finding: Statin users had significantly lower risks of anxiety (adjusted hazard ratio, 0.34) and depression (aHR, 0.36), compared with nonstatin users.

Study details: The data come from a retrospective cohort study of 1,252 statin users and 7,887 nonstatin users in Taiwan.
