Depression, antidepressant use may be common among patients with OSA
Key clinical point: Patients with obstructive sleep apnea had a high rate of clinical depression, which was associated with reduced sleep quality and quality of life.
Major finding: Among the study participants, 25 (22.7%) were assessed as having clinical depression and 27 (24.8%) were using antidepressants.
Study details: Baseline data from 109 patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in the CPAP for OSA and Depression trial who were screened for clinical depression.
