Adolescent obesity, diabetes linked to atherosclerotic signs

Key clinical point: Adolescents with obesity and diabetes show early signs of atherosclerosis.

Major finding: Obese patients had a 0.05 mm greater increases in carotid artery thickness vs. normal-weight patients (P < .001).

Study details: 5-year longitudinal study of 448 normal-weight, obese, and diabetic adolescents.
