Patients with epilepsy may underreport seizures, survey finds
Key clinical point: Patients with epilepsy may report less than half of their seizures to clinicians, and clinicians may underestimate the number of seizures that go unreported.
Major finding: Patients estimated reporting 45% of their seizures to health care professionals. Health care professionals estimated that patients report 73% of their seizures.
Study details: An analysis of data from the STEP survey, which was conducted between February and March 2019. In all, 400 adults with epilepsy, 201 caregivers, and 258 health care professionals completed the survey.
