Poverty raises depression risk in patients with cystic fibrosis

Key clinical point: A survey shows lower income was associated with lower treatment adherence, as well as higher prevalence of symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Major finding: Those in lowest-income households were more likely than those in the highest-income hospitals to experience symptoms of depression (43% vs. 26%).

Study details: Retrospective analysis of 376 individuals with cystic fibrosis at 12 pediatric and 9 adult U.S. CF centers.
